¿Quién eres TÚ?

"¿Quién eres TÚ?" —o también Alicia y la Oruga Azul— (2014) es el cuarto dibujo de la serie titulada "Un viaje por el País de las Maravillas", la cual está inspirada en uno de mis libros favoritos: "Alicia en el País de las Maravillas", publicado en 1865 por el matemático y escritor británico Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, mundialmente conocido bajo el seudónimo de Lewis Carroll.
Esta ilustración nos invita a explorar una de las escenas más desconcertantes del libro: el encuentro de Alicia con la aparentemente malhumorada y antipática Oruga Azul, al final del capítulo IV "La casa del conejo" y durante el capítulo V, titulado "Consejo de una oruga". En un primer momento, Alicia piensa que la Oruga está siendo grosera con ella, puesto que el peculiar personaje —medio adormilado y con tono desinteresado— le pregunta "¿Quién eres tú?", provocando consternación en la niña. Sin embargo, a medida que el capítulo avanza, la oruga empieza a mostrar mayor interés en la en la afligida Alicia —quien mide escasos siete centímetros en el capítulo—, aconsejándole comer una seta para que pudiera volver a crecer.
En el dibujo he intentado representar los principales elementos que acompañan a la Oruga Azul, como la seta gigante en la que aparece fumando un narguile. No obstante, la oruga sostiene un elemento que no se menciona en el libro: un trébol de cuatro hojas que representa la Suerte. Lo he introducido porque siempre he creído que Alicia es muy afortunada, debido a que tiene la suerte de poder visitar un mundo tan maravilloso, valga la redundancia, lleno de personajes descabellados y divertidos. Y claro, el trébol aparece medio mordisqueado, dando a entender que la serena Oruga se nutre de la propia suerte que colma a la protagonista de la historia.

"Who are YOU?" — or Alice and the Caterpillar — (2014) is the fourth drawing of the series called "A journey in Wonderland", which was inspired by one of my favorite books: "Alice in Wonderland", published in 1865 by the British mathematician and writer Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, known worldwide as Lewis Carroll.
This illustration invites us to explore one of the most disconcerting scenes from the book: Alice's encounter with a seemingly grumpy and unfriendly Caterpillar, at the end of Chapter IV "Rabbit Sends in a Little Bill" and during chapter V "Advice from a Caterpillar". At first, Alice thinks that the Caterpillar is being rude to her, since the peculiar character — half sleepy and with uninterested tone — asks 'Who are YOU?', causing consternation in the girl. However, as the chapter progresses, the caterpillar begins to show more interest in the afflicted Alice — who measures just three inches in the chapter — and advised her to eat a mushroom that could make her grow.
In my drawing I tried to represent the main elements that are shown with the Caterpillar, like the giant mushroom he is sitting while smoking a hookah. However, the Caterpillar holds an item that is not mentioned in the book: a four-leaf clover representing Luck. I introduce it because I've always believed that Alicia is very fortunate, because she is lucky to visit such a wonderful land, full of unusual and amusing characters. And of course, the clover appears half nibbled, suggesting that the serene Caterpillar feeds on the very fortune that fulfils the protagonist of the story.
